Thank you! This was an eye-opening gratitude discussion.
I really enjoyed your book "The More in the Less" 😊
I have been doing an intentional declutter before an upcoming big move and needing to downsize! These tips are so helpful!
Loved this so much!!
Beautiful and inspiring as always! 😘
Bonus points for getting it done before a divorce
The Martian, by Andy Weir, has my favorite opening line. (Naughty langiage alert) I'm pretty much fucked. That's my considered opinion. Fucked. He's talking about getting stranded on Mars, so he isn't overselling the situation. You may argue that it is try-hard, but it is at least accurate. The only negative is that the cursing may be a turnoff for some readers.

Basic of Hinduism “everything is your thought”
I love your videos and they've helped me so much. When you started talking about gardening, I just smiled. After reading Braiding Sweetgrass, I planted a "three sisters" garden. Yesterday afternoon I had my first harvest. Thank you for all your wise words. Keep up the great work!
If you ask me about villains who are evil for the sake of being evil, what I answer with sympathy for the world is that they can still have great internal conflict. Maybe they literally believe they must be evil because they failed many times in life, escaped an abusive home or were left alone and tried really hard to improve themselves only to be called a freak, but when they found no other means to survive besides something they considered evil, they finally found people who supported and loved them, giving them a reason to be loyal to evil itself, they could still be lovely and charming villains.
Hi just wondering, how do I write a chapter if my character doesn't want to speak?
This is a great challenge. It's beautifully done in "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides. They "speak" with their silence, their actions and reactions or the lack of both.
Thanks so much, I’m glad I’m not the only author out there going thru this.
There is certainly no intelligent life on this planet.
I'm more interested in your thoughts than minimalism. The weird part is I hate clutter with a fiery passion so I suppose I am a minimalist of a sort, just not to the extreme of choosing to live in a glorified closet.
What if you're writing a true story and you really don't know what they're thinking? Do you just explain what they did and just what you observe, like facial expressions??
I'd like to read more from Kate. She is so shy. It's a pity, to be honest.
I love your vibe. Came here from your writing pod. Very helpful advice
This was so beautiful. Thank you ❣️✨️❣️
I've been decluttering for a while for spiritua emotional l and physical space and I have let go alot but I can also do better slowly and when I know I really want the thing out of my space I thank and let go ❤ thank you Kate you are such an inspiration ❤️
I've accumulated a lot of stuff and tied it into who I am. Hoping to find fulfillment in it. After a while, I realised - instead of me owning all that stuff, it is owning me. Not being able to move freely, think clearly or feel truely. I know by letting go of the things from my past, I can be. I struggle dealing with the sentimental value I attached to things someone gave to me. But that value is a fallace. It reduces the person in the same way as materialism reduces me. We are more than our possessions. Our bond goes deeper. Gifts are just symbols of what is meaningful. Possession of the symbol doesn't change that. Logically, I know it's better to let go, but ask me where that stuff is... I'll show you! Another hurdle is keeping things in case I need it. It's funny how rare it comes true... and when it does, I make do without it because I can't find it. Then, later, I discover the lost treasure. Bury it again, don't bother drawing a map because this time I'll remember! it so happens that I'm actively decluttering this weekend after, after an inciting incident. I feel stronger and more authentic than before I started. Getting clear on what is important to me - who I am, who I want to be - has helped me identify what I want in my life. Thanks for the map, Kate 😊 I would like to see the other 6 pieces
This really resonated with me! I am in the middle of doing a whole-home decluttering and it's true there are objects that I do not use on a regular basis but are difficult to part with because of memories and emotional attachment connected to them. Thanks for sharing these great insights! You inspired me to keep going on my minimalist journey.
I've been decluttering slowly but when I hit a wall is with my family. Both, husband and son, like to collect things and they tend to "fill" the spaces I clear around the house. I managed to save "a corner" for my art but I would like it a bit bigger. Would be interested in boundary setting for this.
❤ of course You need some space, the question is what is going on below the surface. Many men today feel pressured into being tough, and while that can be fine as an element on its own, the question is whether they are conscious of it. Then when you go beneath the surface, the next next questions are whether they are doing it because they feel anxious about the future, or just neglecting taking care of their space because e.g. they have never trained a strong skill of keeping things in order, or they neglect it for some other reason, don't recognize the benefits, etc. Many things can come from the pressure from their environment. If possible, melt any fears with humour, and may You all be in Your decluttering journey optimistic together ❤ Wish You a lot of nice surprises, good mood, step by step progress, peaceful journey and a lot of space ❤
Embrace the tension of setting boundaries. Be okay with them feeling uncomfortable with your boundaries. Reasonable boundaries of course as your home is a shared space.
@@Rndm077s this was definitely missing from my writing, sorry! 🙏🏻 Yes, leave their responsibility to them. Well placed roles and responsibility should feel nourishing for everyone, and they build respect, cooperation and rapport. You can give someone the benefit of the doubt, but do it in a "obvious" way, to foster safety... and expect the same from them! Should they have unreasonable expectations about You, don't accept these and in a calm way extend the safety e.g. by saying that You also don't expect time-consuming things from them. Men often dislike being wrong 😂 or to be seen as irrational, so hopefully You can use that as well if needed, so they can save their face and so You can expect fairness from them. Don't know how much of a difference between you and them you're dealing with, but hopefully something helps. ❤️ Definitely treat Yourself fairly and appeal to ideals step by step, hopefully You can have some good rapport in no time.
YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION 💗
YOU are an inspiration ❤❤
🫂❤️Thank you.
I've been really struggling creatively since I had to change my brain meds. Hoping I can get back into it.
I have so much difficulty with that type of video because it's so neurotypical type.... that I am like ; " when I try to understand the complexity of the movie or the book it's because I actually like it. It's interesting to me. "
🤠👍👌🌞❤🙏
Thank you 🤠👍👌❤🙏
Your video looks like it was made in 2013
Hi just wanted to ask how important is plotting if writes the story for me? Because it feels a little depressing and I'm a discovery writer.
Off topic but I need to know more about those pants please 😄
Great insights. You should look for author Stacy James Meadows. Great episode that is very informative. ❤
“On the edge of my sheet” is when you’re reading in bed and it’s so suspenseful you can’t fall asleep until you know what happens.
Did you both think at some point about translate your books to another language? Don't know if it's just a possibility... Would be pleased to read it if someday i can find them in spanish 🥰 I'm not so good at english 😅 for sure. Thank you for your content, sisters! See you in the next video❤
My favorite side characters are Albert and Nellie from Little House on the Prairie, Mitch Henessey from The Long Kiss Goodnight, Basically all of the contestants especially Ms Crawly 🤣😂from Sing.
Hi Sisters, aha moment, can we call it catharsis?
Catharsis is not the same.
Thank you for who you are. I just found you and I love you so much. This is so needed and I admire your courage and vulnerability deeply.
your words of kindness mean SO MUCH! Thank you! I send you all my love and light 🙏💗☮
Thank you. ❤
Thank you, this so exciting, you've reignited my desire for goal to write 262 goal. Every day.
I have an idea but im having trouble planning out my story 😭
I have several aha moments throughout the novel, each more emotionally charged than the last. All of them serve completing the main character’s arc, each rising the stakes a little higher.
John Truby discusses the Aha! Moment in his book "The Anatomy Of Story". His term is the Self-Revelation & he regards it as the most important step of his 7 step & 22 step story structure. Abbie & Kate, thank you for this video.
"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known." Sydney Carton's character Aha moment blew my mind back in high school reading Dickens' Tale of Two Cities. Still gives me the shivers.
I'm glad you referenced It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol. Those two examples are exactly the Aha structure my current work will use. They give me confidence that structure will work for me too.
I imprint a great deal of myself in my characters. Misbeliefs are integral. But sometimes it's hard to let go, be it fiction or real life. For example, I wish there was less struggle and more compatibility, even though that lends itself to non conflict and less gripping fiction. What are things worth without a fight ?
Subplots are especially useful, especially for pantsers. See where the story goes, or meeting up with people that turn into unexpected allies.
I have to consciously write against this tendency too. I invariably trend toward some attraction or understanding even between enemies. My MC could befriend a brick wall somehow. 😅
You know what I want to know? How can I create a story as beautiful as Downton Abbey with the amount of characters that they have? For me personally I'm so attached to all the characters that it doesn't bother me to pin point a main character. Pretty much the Crowley family and the indentured servants are the main focal point obviously. I have made characters and I'm still building a plot but I want to find a way that I can accomplish writing a story where you can almost love all the characters. You almost know every downton abbey character individually and that's what I think makes the show so incredibly good. I want that for my own story characters.
